SVG Air Reviews
SVG Air or also known as St. Vincent Grenada Air traces its roots back in 1990 with a single Britten-Norman Islander. The air charter service of Grenada is 75% owned by the airline and managed and operated by Gravel and Barnard families. The airline’s main base is at E.T. Joshua Airport and maintenance hangar on the island of Bequia.
SVG Air caters services throughout the Caribbean Island and that in between: Barbados, Nevis, Bequia, Canouan, St Vincent, St. Kitts, St. Marten, Union Island, Mustique, Grenada, St Lucia, St Barts, Anguilla and Martinique; Their CEO is Mr. Martin Barnard
SVG Air’s current fleet size of 11 consists of 3 De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, 3 Britten-Norman BN2A Islander, 3 Aero Commander, 2 Cessna 402 and they plan to lease a Cessna Citation 550 in the future. The small charter service had two incidents recorded in 2006 and 2010 where bought aircraft crashed.
The Website
The official website of the airline doesn’t even look close to official. The site seems out of date and completely aligned to left with the vibrant neon color in which the text size are also too small. Because of that, customers used their Facebook account more often than the official site itself.
SVG Air Reviews and Experience
There’s not much reviews posted online with the feedback from the passengers of SVG Air. However, few comments show that the small air charter service is appreciated and wanted, travelers even took a picture of the interior of their aircraft and tweeted it on Twitter. She also used the picture to create a blog about her overall experience in Grenada.
On an open forum online, one passenger even said “On our recent trip we used SVG Air after having used Liat (uneventfully) on previous trips. This was for reasons of scheduling convenience at higher cost. In our opinion it was well worth it and we would do it again with SVG.” On the said forum travelers are debating about which is better between SVG Air and Liat. To see the open forum, click here.
The most recent review I found was dated on the 24th of September 2015, where the traveler gave SVG Air an average score of 3.2 out of 5 when he said:
“I took several times the SVG Air, it’s a good company. I never had problems. It is a small company and mostly uses small aircraft (maximum 18 passengers). The website is not updated. You can have problems with prices, more expensive than in the website.”
