Mokulele Airlines traces its roots back in 1994 as “Mokulele Flight Service” by Rebecca Inaba. The airline was the first airline founded by a native Hawaiian woman. However, in 2005 the airline was acquired by Boyer Industries, LLC which made William “Bill” Boyer Jr., the first CEO of Mokulele Airlines. Now, the airline has a total fleet size of 15 aircrafts serving 9 destinations within Hawaii and headquartered in Kahului and Kona International Airport.
Through the years the airline had been in partnership with different companies such as Mesa Air Group, Aloha Airlines and Republic Airways Holdings. However, Mokulele Airlines is not a member of any of the three major airline alliances. The Hawaiian airlines’ is led by their current president and CEO, Mr. Ron Hansen.
He once said “No matter which route you take you’ll see some of the most spectacular scenery in the world – towering sea cliffs, secluded beaches, pristine forests, and incredible waterfalls. If you’re flying during the early part of the year you might be lucky enough to see humpback whales during their annual migration.”
Hawaiian Services
There’s only one kind of service on board with Mokulele Airlines, wherein customers enjoy the Hawaiian vibe inflight experience. However, there are no meals served since it’s just a very short haul flight within Hawaii inter islands. The airline’s name was derived from the Hawaiian word “Mokulele” which means “Island”, it expresses that Mokulele Airlines is the Hawaiian’s favorite island hopper.
The Website
The layout of the official website of Mokulele looks pretty simple to easily understand. However, given the simplicity of the site also lacks the necessary information such as inflight meals and what to expect during flight with them. At first, the site gave me the notion that it is an online travel agency more than an airline. The airline doesn’t have a mobile application as well wherein travellers can access the site on a mobile phone.
On a positive note, the site theme colors and flashing images of tourist destination add spice to the overall look of the website. And on the bottom part of the page, it lets customers learn more about the airline’s history, facts and links to their social media accounts.
Mokulele Airlines Reviews of Passengers
Based on 11 Mokulele Airlines reviews on Skytrax, the airline gathered a total score of 2 over 10. It doesn’t sound good, but the most recent review posted was about a passenger who flew with Mokulele Airlines several times and was surprised with the negative comments that the airlines are getting. He thought it was because of the change of management. But in his review, he was all praises to Mokulele Airlines and gave them a 9/10 rating.

In A Nutshell
Judging through facts and several Mokulele Airlines reviews, I can say the airlines is not bad at all. We shouldn’t be expecting much from the small-company airline.
